At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 1st month 18th 1879.
The committee appointed at last meeting to raise and forward our apportionment of the Yearly Meeting's stock report that they have not been able to raise the amount. They are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to propose a Friend to serve this Meeting as clerk report the name of Thomas W. McDaniel, who being united with, is appointed to that station for the ensuing year.
There being no farther business, this meeting concludes.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 2nd month 15th 1879.
The first, 2nd and 8th queries with written answers were read and approved in this meeting and directed to the approaching Quarterly Meeting by Thomas W. McDaniel, Wm. H. Wilson and Reuben Davis who are appointed our representatives. The following is a summary of the answers.
1st Ans. - All our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended though our mid-week meetings are frequently small. Unbecoming behavior avoided. The hour for meeting pretty well observed.
2nd Ans. - Friends are preserved in Christian love one toward another. Talebearing and detraction discouraged and mostly avoided. No differences among us that we know of.
8th Ans. - Care is taken to deal with offenders as queried after.
By direction of the Preparative Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers, the subject of recording Jesse Beals as a minister of the gospel was brought before this Meeting. After deliberation it was united with and directed to the approaching Quarterly Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers.
(P 249) The Friends appointed in first month last to raise and forward to the Yearly Meeting's treasurer our apportionment of Yearly Meeting's stock, report that they have not been able to raise the required amount. They are continued and directed to report to next meeting.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting held 3rd month 15th 1879.
Our representataives report that they all attended Quarterly Meeting except 2 for whose absence reasons were rendered and that there were 32 copies of our book of discipline given them in charge.
The matter of recording Jesse Beals was brought before this Meeting in the second month and directed to the Quarterly Meeting of ministers and elders to be held in the 3rd month. Having failed to go before that Meeting, it is redirected to the Quarterly Meeting aforesaid to be held in the sixth month next.
The Friends appointed to raise Yearly meeting stock report that they have not been able to raise the necessary amount. They are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
There being no farther business, this meeting concludes.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 4th month 19th 1879.
The Friends appointed to raise Yearly meeting stock report that they have not been able to raise the amount. They are continued and directed to report at next meeting.
The following named Friends are appointed with a similar committee of Women Friends are to cooperate with the Quarterly Meeting's committee to consider the revision and reapportionment of elders and to report to next meeting: Wm. J. Ellis, T. L. McDaniel and _____ _____.
(P 250) Aaron Coffin requests his right of membership from Spring Grove Monthly Meeting, Kansas, to Westland Monthly Meeting, Indiana. The following named Friends are appointed to make the necessary inquiries; and if nothing hinders, to prepare a certificate and report to next meeting.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 5th month 17th 1879.
The committee appointed at last meeting to prepare a certificate of membership for Aaron Coffin produced one which was approved and signed.
The first, 2nd and 8th queries with written answers were read and approved and directed to the approaching Quarterly Meeting by Reuben Davis and Solomon Edwards who are appointed as our representatives and report to next meeting with what may be given them in charge.
Summary of Answers:
1st Ans. - All our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. Unbecoming behavior avoided. The hour for meeting pretty well observed.
2nd Ans. - As far as appears most Friends are preserved in Christian love one toward another. Talebearing and detraction discouraged but not altogether avoided. Endeavors are used to end apparent differences when any appear. In the above deficiencies, some care taken.
8th Ans. - Care has been taken and endeavors used to deal with offenders as queried after.
John Terrell, David Davis, and B. P. Averill are appointed as caretakers to attend the approaching Quarterly Meeting and directed to report to next meeting.
(P 251) The meeting then adjourned to meet sixth day before Quarterly Meeting being the first sixth day in sixth month.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held by adjournment from 5th month 17th, the first sixth day in sixth month.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to cooperate with the Quarterly Meeting committee to consider the condition of the Preparative Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers report that James and Elizabeth Burks, Mary and Jesse Beals, Sarah Bones, Lewis White, Thomas W. McDaniel, Sarah Henley, Lydia Arnold and John Terrell to serve this Meeting as elders, who being united with, are appointed to that station. The clerk is directed to forward a list of the above names to the Preparative Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers.
The business having been disposed of, this meeting concludes.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 6th month 21st 1879.
The representatives report that one of them attended Quarterly Meeting. Reasons were rendered for the absence of the others. There was nothing given them in charge for this Meeting. The caretakers attended their appointment.
Thomas W. McDaniel, Solomon Edwards, Wm. H. Wilson and John J. Collins are appointed to consider changing the overseers and report to the next meeting.
There being no farther business, this meeting concludes.

At Spring Grove monthly Meeting of Friends held 7th month 1879.
The committee appointed at last meeting to consider changing the overseers report the names of Thomas W. McDaniel and Wm. H. Wilson, who being united with, are appointed to that station.
L. C. White, Thomas W. McDaniel, Solomon Edwards and Reuben Davis are appointed to collect the necessary information upon the subjects of statistics, temperance and education and report to next meeting.
The committee on Yearly Meeting stock report that the amount has very near all been raised and the remainder is subscribed.
There being no farther business, this meeting concludes.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 8th month 16th 1879.
The report of the committee upon the subjects of statistics, temperance and education was accepted and directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting.
The queries with written answers were read and approved and directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting by Solomon Edwards, Thomas W. McDaniel, Lewis C. White and Jesse Beals who are appointed as our representatives. They are directed to their attendance with what may be given them in charge to next meeting.
The following is a summary of answers:
1st Ans. - All our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. Unbecoming behavior avoided and the hour for meeting pretty well observed.
2nd Ans. - Friends are not all preserved in that Christian love one toward another as would be desireable. Talebearing and detraction discouraged and mostly avoided. Endeavors have been used to end apparent differences.
3rd Ans. - Friends generally endeavor by example and precept to educate their children and those under their care in the principles of the Christian religion. A greater care in plainness of speach is desireable. The reading of the Holy Scriptures is encouraged.

4th Ans. - Friends are clear of importing, vending and distilling but not as free from the unnecessary use of intoxicating liquors or of attending places of diversion as would be desireable. We believe moderation and temperance is observed by most Friends.
5th Ans. - No poor among us requiring aid that we know of.
6th Ans. - We believe that most Friends endeavor to comply with the several requirements of this query.
7th Ans. - We know of no cause of complaint under the several heads of this query.
8th Ans. - Care has been extended as queried after but more seasonable care might have been best.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 9th month 20th 1879.
The representatives report that two of their number attended Quarterly Meeting. Reasons were rendered for the absence of the others. There was nothing given them in charge.
By an extract from the Quarterly Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers, we are informed that the Meeting unites with the Preparative Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers at Spring Grove in recording Jesse Beals as a minister of the gospel and he is recorded. The clerk is to furnish the Quarterly Meeting of ministers, elders and overseers of the action of this Meeting.
This meeting concludes.

(P 254) At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 11th month 15th 1879.
The Friends appointed to bring forward the names of suitable Friends to serve this Meeting as trustees report not attended to. They are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
By an extract from the minutes of the Preparative Meeting, we are informed that Dayton Cook requests for himself and minor daughter, Sylvia A. Cook, to be joined in membership with Friends. Solomon Edwards and Jesse Beals are appointed to have an opportunity with them on account thereof and report to next meeting.
Q. M. Averill, Wm. J. Ellis and Wm. H. Wilson are appointed to attend the approaching Quarterly Meeting as representatives and report their attendance with what may be given them in charge to next meeting.
The business having been disposed of, this meeting concludes.

At Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 12th month 20th 1879.
The Friends appointed in 10th month and continued in 11th month to propose the names of suitable Friends to serve this Meeting as trustees report the names of Jesse Beals and John Terrell, who being united with, are appointed to that station.
The Friends appointed in case of Dayton Cook and Sylvia A. Cook report that they find nothing to hinder them from being received into memberhsip with Friends and they are received.
Our representatives, not being present to report the matter, were continued until next meeting.
Z. H. Bones and Jesse Beals are appointed to bring forward the name of a suitable person so serve this Meeting as clerk for the ensuing year and report to next meeting.
