Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 1st month 19th 1867.

A certificate was received, read and accepted, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Elwood Hayworth and Matilda his wife with their minor children, Richard, Erasmus, Rosetta, Clark, Ahijah and Sylvanus Hayworth from Rosemount Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, dated 11th month 13th 1866. The clerk is directed to inform Rosemount Monthly Meeting of the reception of the foregoing certificate.

The committee to inform C. O. Gause of this Meeting's decision in his case report not attended to; they are continued and directed to report to next meeting.

The committee appointed to raise this Meeting's quota of Yearly Meeting stock and freedmen's funds report not attended to; they are continued and directed to report to next meeting. They are directed to raise the Yearly Meeting stock and place it in the hands of the representatives and report to next meeting.

(P 95) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 2nd month 16th 1867.

The first, second, and eighth queries were read in this meeting with written answers thereto which are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting in which we appoint as our representatives Simon Jones and A. W. Wasson who are directed to report to next meeting.

1st Answer: All of our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended by most Friends though not so well by some as is desired; no unbecoming behavior to remark; the hour of meeting pretty well observed.

2nd Answer: Most Friends appear to be preserved in Christian love one towards another; talebearing and detraction discouraged; when differences arise endeavors are used to end them.

8th Answer: Care taken to deal with offenders and to endeavor to evince to those who will not be reclaimed in the spirit of meeknefs and love before judgment is placed upon them.

The committee continued in C. O. Gause's case report attended to.

Spring Grove Preparative Meeting complains of Albert Jones for accomplishing his marriage contrary to discipline. T. C. Dunbar and A. W. Wasson are appointed to visit him and report the result of their labor to next meeting.

Spring Grove Preparative Meeting complains of Duncan Holaday for accomplishing his marriage contrary to discipline. J. M. Dunbar and Simon Jones are appointed to treat with him and report the result of their labor to next meeting.

(P 96) The Friends residing in Cherokee Co., Kansas, having requested the privilege of holding a Meeting for worship on the 1st and 4th days preceding the second 7th day of each month, also a Monthly Meeting to be held on the second seventh day in each month to be known by the name of Spring River, after due consideration, the Meeting unites in forwarding it to the Quarterly Meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 3rd month 16th 1867.

A certificate was received, read and accepted from Honey Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, dated 3rd mo. 27th 1866, conveying to this mMeting the rights of membership of Allen Hayworth and Delilah his wife with their minor children, Allen S., Rebecca D., John and Lacy Evaline Hayworth.

Also, one from South River Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, dated 7th month 26th 1867, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of William E. J. Nixon and Nancy his wife with their minor children, Sarah E., Lydia S., Nealy, Milton, Henry H., Jerome G. Nixon.

The clerk is directed to furnish the Meetings that issued the foregoing certificates with suitable extracts.

The representatives report they all attended the Quarterly Meeting.

(P 97) The Friends appointed to visit Albert Jones on account of his deviation report that one of them had an opportunity with him to good satisfaction; he wishes to retain his right of membership.

The Friends appointed to visit Duncan Holaday on account of his deviation report that one of them had an opportunity with him; he exprefsed a willingnefs to be retained a member. They are both retained accordingly.

The committee continued at last meeting to raise and place in the hands of the representatives our part of the Yearly Meeting stock report not attended to; they are therefore continued with the addition of A. W. Wasson to raise the Yearly Meeting stock and also the Freedmen's fund and produce it to this Meeting in the fifth month.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 4th month 20th 1867.

A certificate was received, read and accepted from Oak Ridge Monthly Meeting of Friends, Indiana, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Isaiah Shugart and wife Ann W. Shugart with their minor children, Lorenzo, Josephine and Henrietta Shugart dated 3rd month 12th 1867. The clerk is directed to inform Oak Ridge Monthly Meeting of the reception of the foregoing certificate.

The subject of first day school having come before the Meeting, James M. Dunbar, Allen Hayworth, Simon Jones and Calvin Barnard are appointed in conjunction with a similar committee of Women Friends to organize and superintend a first day school and report to this Meeting in the 8th month next.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 5th month the 18th 1867.

A certificate was received, read and accepted from Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, Indiana, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Eli Cammack and his minor children, Edwin, Enos, Eva Jane, Elmer, Elma, Edna Ann Cammack dated 4th month the 18th 1867.

The first, second and 8th queries were read in this meeting with written answers thereto which being approved are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting by Thomas C. Dunbar, James M. Dunbar and Simon Jones whom we appoint as our representatives therein and they are directed to report to next meeting.

First Ans.: Meetings for worship and discipline pretty well attended; the hour of meeting observed; no unbecoming behavior to remark.

Second Ans.: Most Friends appear to be preserved in Christian love one toward another. Talebearing and detraction discourage. When differences arise endeavors are used to end them.

Eighth Ans.: Care is taken to deal with offenders seasonably and impartially and to endeavor to evince to those who will not be reclaimed the spirit of meeknefs and love before judgment is placed upon them.

The representatives report they all attended the Quarterly Meeting.

The committee continued at last meeting to raise the Freedmen's fund report not attended to; they are continued and directed to report in the 8th month next.

Thosmas C. Dunbar, James M. Dunbar and Spencer Hayworth are appointed to propose to next meeting the name of a suitable Friend to serve this Meeting as Clerk for the ensuing year and one for assistant.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 7th month the 20th 1867.

The Committee appointed to propose the name of a Friend for Clerk and one for assistant propose the name of Thosmas N. Jones for Clerk and Allen S. Hayworth for assistant which is satisfactory to the Meeting and they are appointed accordingly.

(P 100) A certificate was received, read and accepted from Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, dated 5th month the 9th 1867, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Jefse Bales (Beals) and Mary his wife with their minor children, Lucy Ellen, Marilda Ann and Gulia Elma. The clerk is directed to notify Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting of the reception of the above named certificate and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 8th month the 17th 1867.

The queries were read in this meeting with written answers thereto which being approved are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting in which we appoint as our representatives Allen Hayworth, Simon Jones and A. W. Wasson who are directed to report to next meeting what may be given them in charge.

First Ans.: Meetings for worship and discipline pretty well attended by some Friends though others are negligent in that important duty. No unbecoming behavior to remark. The hour of meeting pretty well observed.

Second Ans.: Most Friends appear to be preserved in Christian love one toward another though there is a lack of that Christian love in a few instances. Talebearing and detraction discouraged but we fear not altogether avoided. Some care taken to end differences when any appear.

Third Ans.: Friends endeavor by example and precept to educate their children and those under their care in the principles of Christian religion and in plainefs of speech, deportment and apparel, and to guard them from pernicious reading and from corrupt conversation, and we believe they are encouraged to read the Holy Scriptures diligently.

Fourth Ans.: No cause for complaint under the several heads of that query that we know of.

Fifth Ans.: No poor amongst us requiring the care of Friends.

Sixth Ans.: Clear under the several heads of that query so far as we know.

Seventh Ans.: No cause for complaint in the several particulars of that query that we know of.

Eighth Ans.: Some care taken to deal with offenders seasonably and impartially and to endeavor to evince to those who will not be reclaimed the spirit of meeknefs and love before judgment is placed upon them.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 9th month the 21st 1867.

The representative appointed to attend our last Quarterly Meeting report they all attended.

T. C. Dunbar and T. N. Jones are appointed to raise $7.50, our part of Quarterly Meeting stock and forward it to the Quarterly Meeting treasurer.

(P 102) Calvin Barnard, T. C. Dunbar and Thosmas N. Jones are appointed to make out a new ratio of apportionment among the members of this Meeting by which to raise moneys and report to next meeting.

After due consideration, the Meeting unites in discontinuing Simon Jones and Calvin Barnard as caretakers of the graveyard and Thos. N. Jones and Allen S. Hayworth are appointed as caretakers and grave diggers and they are directed to report in the 9th month next.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 10th month the 19th 1867.

From an extract from our last Quarterly Meeting it appears that the subject of raising money for the Freedmen's committee is again referred to the Monthly Meetings. T. C. Dunbar and T. N. Jones are appointed to raise and produce it to next meeting.

The committee appointed at last meeting to raise $7.50 cts of Quarterly Meeting stock report not attended to; they are therefore continued and directed to report to next meeting.

The committee appointed to make out a new ratio of apportionment by which to raise money report not attended to; they are continued and directed to report to next meeting.

Jefse Beals, A. W. Wasson and T. C. Dunbar are appointed to confer with Quarterly Meeting's committee for the purpose of considering the state of the meeting of ministers and elders and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 11th month the 16th 1867.

The committee appointed to raise the Freedmen's fund report not attended to; they are continued and directed to report to this Meeting in the 8th month next.

The committee appointed at last meeting to raise the Quarterly Meeting stock report the most of it in readynefs; they are directed to raise the balance and forward it to the Quarterly Meeting and report to next meeting.

The Friends appointed to make out a new ratio of apportionment submit the following: Simon Jones, Allen Hayworth and Calvin Barnard 10 cts on the dollar; Samuel Holaday, A. W. Wasson, Solomon Edwards, A. Bishop, Jefse Beals and Duncan Holaday 7 cts on the dollar; James M. Dunbar, Thos. N. Jones and Thos. C. Dunbar 5 cts on the dollar; Louis Jones, Albert Jones and T. H. Booth 3 cts on the dollar.

The committee appointed to confer with the Quarterly Meeting's committee for the purpose of considering the state of ministers and elders report that they are united in proposing the names of Simon Jones, Jesse Beals, A. W. Wasson, T. C. Dunbar, Millicent Jones, Mary Wasson, Mary Beals, Mary Dunbar, Elizabeth Holaday and Delilah Hayworth, which is satisfactory to the meeting and they are appointed to that station except Delilah Hayworth who was excused at her own request.

(p 104) Jesse Beals, T. N. Jones, Spencer Hayworth and T. C. Dunbar are appointed our representatives to our next Quarterly Meeting and report to next meeting with anything that may be given them in charge.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 12th month the 21st 1867.

A certificate was received, read and accepted from Springdale Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Jesse R. Townsend and Elma his wife.

Also, one from Bloomingdale, Indiana, conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Amy Hemp and Mary Hemp her daughter.

The representatives report they all attended the Quarterly Meeting and produced a number of Yearly Meeting minutes which they are directed to distribute among the members.

The Friends continued at last meeting to raise and forward the Quarterly Meeting stock report attended to.

From an extract from the minutes of our last Quarterly Meeting it appears that we are directed to raise $7.50 for committee on Earlham College, $14.57 for Yearly Meeting stock and $7.00 for peace committee. T. N. Jones and Jesse Beals are appointed to raise the above sums and forward it to this Meeting in the second month next.

(P 105) T. N. Jones, J. M. Dunbar, Spencer Hayworth and Oliver Butler are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Women Friends to seat the members of this Meeting as they may deem best and report to next meeting.
