Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held first month the 16th 1869.
The Clerk not being present, Thomas C. Dunbar was appointed Clerk for the day.
(P 125) Thomas N. Jones, having removed with his family and settled within the limits of Springfield Monthly Meeting of Friends requests our certificate of their right of membership to be conveyed to that Meeting. Allen Hayworth and Jefse Beals are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Women Friends to inquire according to discipline and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare a certificate and produce it to next meeting.
Thomas H. Winder and Rebecca his wife having requested our certificate of their right of membership with their minor daughter Ellen to be conveyed to Springfield Monthly Meeting of Friends, James M. Dunbar and A. Wasson are appointed in conjunction with a similar committee of Women Friends to inquire according to discipline and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare and produce one to next meeting.
James M. Dunbar is appointed Librarian, the role of Thomas N. Jones who has removed.
Our Clerk having removed out of the limits of this Meeting, Thomas Butler, A. W. Wasson and Jefse Beals are appointed to propose to next meeting the name of a suitable Friend to serve this Meeting as clerk for the ensuing year and also one for assistant clerk.
The minute on the state of society and also the London General Epistle were read and the salutory counsel and advice therein contained was satisfactory to the Meeting.

(P 126) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held second month 20th 1869.
The committee appointed at last meeting to propose to this the name of a Friend to serve this Meeting as clerk the ensuing year and one for assistant proposed the name of J. M. Dunbar for Clerk and Oliver Butler for assistant, with whom the Meeting unites and they are appointed accordingly.
The first, 2nd and 8th queries were read in this meeting as directed and answers thereto which were approved and directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting in which we appoint as our representatives Jesse Beals, J. M. Dunbar and Thomas Butler who are directed to return what may be given them in charge to this meeting in 3rd month next.
The committee appointed at last meeting to prepare a certificate of removal for Thomas Jones and Family produced one which was approved, directed to be signed and forwarded.
Also, the committee appointed to prepare one for Thomas H. Winder and family produced one which was directed to be signed and forwarded.
The treasurer reports nothing paid in as Quarterly or Yearly Meeting stock. He is required to report in 3rd month next.
The committee appointed in 12th month last and continued in the second to solicit subscriptions for the Indiana Bible Association report some attention. They are continued and required to report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 3rd month 20th 1869.
The representatives report two of them attended the Quarterly Meeting.
The treasurer reports $3.60 paid in for Quarterly and Yearly Meeting stock. He is required to report to next meeting.
A certificate was received, read and accepted from Rocksylvania Monthly Meeting, Iowa, conveying to this (Meeting) the rights of membership of Isaac Palmer and his wife Hannah with their minor children. Thomas Butler and Clarkson Dunbar are appointed to inform the above named Friends of the reception of their certificate and give what other attention they may think best and report to next meeting.
By an extract from the Quarterly Meeting, it appears that this Meeting is directed to raise the sum of fifteen dollars to augment the Quarterly stock; also its quota as directed in 12th month last. The members of this Meeting are directed to pay their respective sums in to the hand of the treasurer and he is required to report to this Meeting in the 5th month next.
An appeal from Friends Foreign Mission Associations was read in this meeting.
The subject of moving the meeting house being brought before this Meeting, Jesfe Beals, Asa Holaday, James Dunbar and Clarkson Dunbar are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Women Friends to consider the subject in all its bearings and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 4th month the 17th A.D. 1869.
The Clerk not being present, T. C. Dunbar is appointed Clerk for the day.
The committee appointed the last meeting to take into consideration the propriety of moving the meeting house or building a new one produced the following which is satisfactory to the meeting. Thomas Butler, A. W. Wasson, Jesse Beals, Asa Holaday and J. M. Dunbar are appointed to select a site for a house, to propose a plan and probable cost, and report to next meeting.
The Treasurer reports he has received nothing since last meeting, is directed to report to next meeting.
The committee continued from last meeting to solicit subscriptions for the Indiana Bible Association report no further care since last meeting, are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to inform Isaac Palmer and wife of the reception of their certificate having not attended to the appointment are continued and to report to next meeting.
A report of the committee appointed by the Quarterly Meeting to visit the Monthly Meeting in regard to the division of the Quarterly ...
(P 129) ... acceptably attended this meeting.
The Meeting then adjourned to meet the fourth seventh day in the 5th month on account of the general meeting being held at our usual time.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 5th month the 22nd A.D. 1869.
The committee appointed in last meeting to select a site for a meeting house propose the following which is satisfactory to the meeting. (See 7th month 17th.)
The first, 2nd and 8th queries were read in this meeting and answers thereto which are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting in which we appoint as our representatives Thomas Butler, A. W. Wasson and Lewis White who are directed to return what may be given them in charge to next meeting.
Thomas Butler, Jesse Beals, A. W. Wasson and Solomon Edwards are appointed to solicit subscriptions for the purpose of building the meeting house as proposed by report of committee appointed at last meeting and they are directed to report in the 7th month next.
(P 131) The Treasurer of this Meeting reports he forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting the sum of $12.60.
By an extract from the Quarterly Meeting it appears that this Meeting is again directed to raise the sum of $5.40 balance due on Yearly Meeting stock and the sum of $15.00 for Quarterly Meeting stock (old directions). Also, $6.50 as directed by the Quarterly Meeting in 6th mos. The members of this Meeting are directed to pay their respective sums into the hand of the Treasurer and he is directed to report to next meeting. Also, suggested to be paid the sum of $18.00 for the use of Freedmen's committee.
The meeting then concluded.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 7th month 17th A.D. 1869.
The Treasurer reports received since last meeting as Yearly Meeting stock 54 cents, Quarterly Meeting stock directed in 12th month last 25 cents and as directed in third month 45 cents, is directed to report in 8th month next.
The committee continued at last meeting to solicit subscriptions for the Indiana Bible Association having not yet fully complied with the directions of last meeting are continued and required to report to next meeting.
A certificate of right of membership of John G. Henley from Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, N.C. held 2nd month 13th A.D. 1869, being read in this meeting at this time is (accepted). The Clerk is directed to be endorsed to Cottonwood Monthly Meeting of Friends, Kansas, and he is directed to report to next meeting.
(P 132) The committee appointed in 5th month last to solicit subscriptions for the purpose of building a meeting house report 775 dollars subscribed (see next month correction) are continued and required to report to next meeting.
A certificate of right of membership as received, read and accepted from West Union Monthly Meeting of Friends at Morgan Co., Ind., bearing date of 6th month 7th A.D. 1869, conveying to this (Meeting) the rights of George F. Coffin and wife Lydia Jane with their children, Levi, Aaron, Mary, Jonathan, Jane and Louisa.
A certificate was received, read and accepted from Salem Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, held 6th month 6th A.D. 1869, conveying to this Meeting the rights of membership of Reuben Davis.
Also, one from same place bearing same date conveying to this the right of membership of David Davis.
Allen Hayworth request the right of membership for himself and family to Union Monthly Meeting of Friends, Jasper Co., Missouri. J. M. Dunbar and Lewis C. White are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Women Friends to make the necessary inquiry and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare and produce a certificate to next meeting.
Our beloved Friend Thomas Jay, a minister, acceptably attended this meeting and produced a minute of unity and concurrence from Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, Grant Co., Indiana, held 3rd month 18th A.D. 1869, whose company and labors of love have been satisfactory.
(P 133) Also his wife Elizabeth Jay produced a minute of unity and concurrence from same place bearing same date whose company and orderly deportment have been satisfactory.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 21st of 8th month A.D. 1869.
The Treasurer reports $11.75 paid in since last meeting, he is directed to forward to the Quarterly Meeting's Treasurer and report to next meeting.
The committee continued at last meeting for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions for the Indiana Bible Association of Friends report they have forwarded $2.75 to Charles F. Coffin, Richmond, Indiana, are discontinued from further service.
The Clerk reports complied with the directions of last meeting in case of John G. Henley's certificate.
All of the queries and answers thereto were read in this meeting and directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting in which we appoint as our representatives Jesse Beals, Lewis C. White and Thomas Butler who are directed to return what may be given them in charge to next meeting.
William Nixon requests our certificate of right of membership for himself and family to be conveyed to Cottonwood Monthly Meeting. J. M. Dunbar and Asa Holaday are appointed in conjunction with like committee of Women Friends to make the necessary inquiry and if they find nothing to hinder produce one to next meeting.
(P 134) Thomas Butler and Thomas C. Dunbar are appointed to make statistical inquiry as queried after in the annual queries and other statistics and give to the clerk to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting and report to next meeting.
The several standing committees of this Meeting are directed to make out reports and forward to the Quarterly Meeting.
The committee appointed in fifth month last and continued at last meeting for the purpose of soliciting subscription for the purpose of building the meeting house reporting nothing further since last meeting; but through misunderstanding the minute of last meeting reading $775.00 should be and is corrected so as to read $325.00 which amount is taken for the correct one and the committee required to report next meeting.
Our beloved Friend Milton Winslow, a minister, acceptably attended this meeting and produced a minute of unity and concurrence from Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends held 7th month 15th 1869.
Also our beloved Friend Phebe Cook, a minister, acceptably attended this meeting and produced a minute of unity and concurrence from Richland Monthly Meeting of Friends held 6th month 2nd 1869.
Also our beloved Friend Cyrus Cook acceptably attended this meeting and produced a minute of unity and concurrence from same place bearing same date.
The meeting then concluded.

(P 135) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 9th month 18th A.D. 1869.
The treasurer reports he forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting the sum of $16.40, is required to report to next meeting.
The representatives report two of their number attended the Quarterly Meeting.
The committee appointed at last meeting to prepare a certificate of William Nixon and family report not complied with, are continued to produce one to next meeting.
The committee appointed to foward statistics to the Quarterly Meeting report they attended to that matter as far as they could under existing circumstances.
The committee appointed in 5th month last and continued from time to time to solicit subscriptions for the purpose of building the meeting house report nothing received since last meeting, are required to report to next meeting.
The committee continued at last meeting in case of Allen Hayworth's certificate report some obstruction to the issuing a certificate, are continued, and directed to report to next meeting.
By an extract from the Quarterly Meeting it appears that this Meeting is directed to foward to our next Quarterly Meeting $11.45 balance due on Quarterly Meeting stock as directed in 3rd month last and also $6.50 for same purpose as directed in 6th month last and $6.50 as directed by this Meeting, also $18.00 Freemen money as directed in 6th month last month (9th month Q.M.)

(P 136) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 10th month 16th A.D. 1869.
The Clerk not being present Thos. C. Dunbar was appointed Clerk for the day.
A certificate of membership was received, read and accepted from Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, N.C. conveying to this Meeting the right of membership of Thomas C. Dunbar and family, bearing date of 8th month 14th A.D. 1869.
Our beloved Friend Lydia M. Chase, a minister, acceptably attended this meeting and produced a minute of unity and concurrence from Shawnee Monthly Meeting of Friends held 7th month 13th 1869, whose company is satisfactory to this Meeting.
Calvin Barnard and Thomas C. Dunbar are appointed to repair the meeting house and make the necessary arrangements for warming and repay the same for the ensuing year and ascertain the probably cost, collect the same and report to next meeting.
The meeting then concluded.

(P 137) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 11th month the 20th A.D. 1869.
The Clerk not being present, Thomas C. Dunbar was appointed Clerk for the day.
Jesse Beals, Thomas C. Dunbar and George F. Coffin are appointed as representatives to attend our next Quarterly Meeting and return what may be given them in charge to next meeting.
Thomas Butler, Lewis C. White and A. W. Wasson are appointed to attend the orderly accounting of the Quarterly Meeting and report to next meeting.
A certificate was received, read and accepted from Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, Ind., conveying to this the right of membership of Nathan Morris (a minister) and Abigail his wife with their minor daughter Mary, bearing date 10th month 14th A.D. 1869. The Clerk is directed to inform that Meeting of the reception of the same and report to next meeting.
The committee continued in 9th month last to prepare a certificate for William Nixon and family produced one to this meeting which was directed to be signed and placed in the hand of the correspondent to forward to Cottonwood Monthly Meeting.
The Treasurer of this Meeting reports Four Dollars received since last meeting.
Lewis C. White and Oliver Butler are appointed to assist him in collecting the balance as directed by last Quarterly Meeting and forward the same to the ensuing Quarter and report to next meeting.
(P 138) The committee continued in the 9th month last in case of Allen Hayworth's request report an obstruction still exists to the issuing of a certificate. Calvin Barnard and Jesse Beals are appointed to assist that committee to endeavor to remove that difficulty and report to next meeting.
The committee continued in the 9th month last to solicit subscriptions for the purpose of building a meeting house report nothing received since last meeting and that in their judgment they had better be release with which this Meeting unites and they are released from further service.
The committee appointed at last month to repair the meeting house, not being ready to make full report, are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
The meeting then concluded.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 12th month 18th A.D. 1869.
The representatives report they all attended the Quarterly Meeting and received our apportionment of the printed minutes of our last and London General Epistle which have mostly been distributed. They are required to furnish families not yet furnished.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to attend the orderly sitting of the Quarterly Meeting report they attended to that service.
The clerk informed this meeting that he had not informed Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends of Nathan Morris' certificate, is directed to report to next meeting.
(P 139) The treasurer of this meeting reports $6.00 paid on old direction, $5.58 as directed in 6th month last and $4.52 as directed in 9th month last, making $16.10 which was forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting.
The committee in case of Allen Hayworth's request report they have given the subject some attention but not yet able to make full report, are continued until next meeting.
The committee having charge of repairing and warming the meeting house report nothing done since last meeting, are continued until next meeting.
By an extract from the Quarterly Meeting it appears that this Meeting is directed to raise the sum of $21.84, its quota of Yearly Meeting stock, as directed by our last Yearly Meeting, also the sum of $26.00 Quarterly Meeting stock as directed by the Quarterly Meeting in 12th month and $8.35 as per former direction, also to pay immediately into the hand of George Dickenson the sum of $16.00, its quota of Freedmen's money. Lewis C. White, Jesse Beals and Lewis Jones are appointed to collect the same and deposit in the hand of the treasurer and report to this Meeting in 2nd month next.
Thomas C. Dunbar, Nathan Morris and J. M. Dunbar are appointed to make out apportionment among the members of this meeting by which to raise moneys and produce it at next meeting.
A circular from the executive committee of the Indiana Yearly Meeting was read in this meeting.
