Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 1st month 18th 1873. The clerk not being present, Mary Jones is appointed clerk for the day.
The Friends appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting as representatives report that one of them attended and was given in charge the minutes of the Yearly Meeting which have been distributed to order and some library books.
Lovisa W. Gause requests our certificate of her and her child's right of membership conveyed to Springfield Monthly Meeting. Elizabeth Burks and Sarah Cook are appointed to make the necessary inquiry; and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare and produce one to the next meeting.
(P 66) Louisa Dunbar and Sarah Cook are appointed to bring forward to next meeting the names of suitable Friends to serve this Meeting as overseers the ensuing year.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 2nd month 15th 1873. The clerk not being present, C. M. Johnson was appointed clerk for the day.
The 1st, 2nd and 8th queries were read in this meeting with answers from the Preparatives of which the following summary was taken.
1st Ans. - All our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended by part of our members. Some are seldom seen at meeting. Some care extended, probably not as much as would have been best. Unbecoming behavior avoided. The hour of meeting nearly observed.
2nd Ans. - Friends appear to be preserved in Christian love one towards another. Talebearing and detraction discouraged and mostly avoided. No apparent differences amongst us.
8th Ans. - No deficiencies existing under the several heads of that query.
Mary Bales (Beals), Abigail Morris, Catharine M. Johnson and Louisa Dunbar are appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting as representatives and report to next meeting what may be given them in charge by the Quarterly Meeting.
The Friends appointed at last meeting in case of Lovisa W. Gause and children's certificate finding nothing to hinder, have prepared and produced one which was read, approved, and signed.
The Friends appointed to bring forward names of suitable Friends to serve this Meeting as overseers propose the names of Delilah Hayworth and Elizabeth Burks with whom this Meeting unites and they are appointed to that station.
(P 67) Delilah Hayworth, Louisa Dunbar and Abigail Morris are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Men Friends to propose to next meeting the names of suitable Friends to serve as committees--Temperance cause, one for Scripture schools, and one for Book and Tract.
The Epistles of N. England Yearly meeting and also from Kansas Yearly Meeting (were read in this meeting) which was satisfactory and edifying.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 3rd month 15th 1873. The clerk being absent, Catharine J. Johnson was appointed clerk for the day.
The Friends appointed last month to attend the Quarterly Meeting as representatives report that two of them attended and there was some epistles given them for this Meeting.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to bring forward names of suitable Friends to serve as committees on the Temperance cause and Book and Tract propose the names of Jesse Bales (Beals), Allen Hayworth, Washington Wasson, Delilah Hayworth, Catharine M. Johnson and Mary Wasson with which this Meeting unites and they are appointed accordingly.
The Epistles from Baltimore, New York and London Yearly Meetings were read in this Meeting which was satisfactory and edifying.
Sarah Henley, Elizabeth Burks and Sarah Cook are appointed in conjunction with a similar committee of Men Friends and the Quarterly Meeting's committee to consider the state of the select body.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 4th month 19th 1873.
Our beloved friend Nathan Morris, a minister with whom we have unity, expressed a concern which had long rested with him to appoint some meetings for worship amongst scattered Friends and others. After a time of deliberation thereon, full unity with him was expressed and he was left at liberty to attend thereto as best wisdom may direct.
(P 68) Our beloved friend Abigail Morris, an elder, in whom we have unity, expressed a willingness to accompany her husband, Nathan Morris, in the proposed concern with which this Meeting unites and (they) are left at liberty and encouraged to attend thereto as truth opens the way.
The Friends appointed in conjunction with Quarterly Meeting's committee to take into consideration the state of the select body report they attended to the appointment and are united in proposing the following names and they are appointed accordingly: Abigail Morris, Mary Beals, Elizabeth Holaday, Sarah Hunt, Mary Wasson, A. W. Wasson, and Elizabeth Burks.
Epistles were read in this meeting from Iowa and Western Yearly Meetings much to our comfort and edification.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 5th month 19th 1873.
The clerk being absent, C. M. Johnson was appointed clerk for the day.
The 1st, 2nd and 8th queries were read in this meeting with written answers from each of the Preparatives from which a summary was taken and are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting by Sarah Henley, Mary Wasson, and Jane Durham whom we appoint our representatives. They are to report to next meeting what may be given them in charge.
Catharine M. Johnson and Mary Beals are appointed as caretakers of the Quarterly Meeting and to report to next meeting.
The overseers inform this Meeting that Mary Jackson (formerly Frazier) accomplished her marriage contrary to discipline. Abigail Morris and Elizabeth Burks are appointed to visit on account thereof and report to next meeting. Also that Louisa Updegraff (formerly Dunbar) has accomplished her marriage contrary to discipline. Sarah Henley and Delilah Hayworth are appointed to visit her on account thereof and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 7th month 19th 1873.
The committee continued on Louisa Updegraff's case report they had a satisfactory interview with her and she wishes to retain her right which was satisfactory to the Meeting.
The Friends appointed in Mary Jackson's case report attended to.
Representatives report they all attended the Quarter. There was nothing given them in charge.
Mary Beals is appointed to inform Louisa Updegraff the decision of the meeting in her case.
Our beloved Friend John Barker acceptably attended this Meeting with satisfactory credentials from Westfield Monthly Meeting of Friends held at Westfield, Hamilton Co., Indiana, dated 6th month 29th 1873, whose gospel labors have been satisfactory.

The queries were read in this meeting with written answers thereto from the preparative, a summary of which was approved and directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting by Sarah Cook, Elizabeth Burks and Mary Wasson, appointed as representatives to attend the Quarterly Meeting and report to next meeting what may be given them in charge for this Meeting.
The general advices were read at this time.
Annual Answers:
1st Ans.: No new meetings settled.
2nd Ans.: Schools are encouraged under teachers in membership with us.
3rd Ans.: Each family of Friends if furnished with a copy of the Holy Scriptures. There is some neglect in daily reading.
4th Ans.: The queries are read and answered as directed.
(P 70) The sum of 35 cts. was raised as Yearly Meeting stock.
Epistles from Dublin and Ohio Yearly Meetings were read in this Meeting which was satisfactory and edifying.
The Friends appointed last month in case of Louisa Updegraff report attended to.
The request of the Preparative Meeting of ministers and elders to change the time of holding it from 2 o'clock sixth day to 10 o'clock seventh day morning of Monthly Meeting was granted.

The Friends appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting as representatives report two of them attended and there was given them the care of the Yearly Meeting's minutes and some memorials.
(P 71) The Friends appointed at last meeting to forward the name of a suitable Friend as clerk, not being ready to report, are continued to report to next meeting.
