Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 1st month 15th 1876.

The committee to prepare a certificate for C. M. Johnson and family produced one which was read, approved and signed.

Nathan Morris requests his and his family's right of membership removed to Walnut Creek Monthly Meeting, Kansas. Mary Bales (Beals) and Mary Jones are appointed to make necessary inquiry in conjunction with Men Friends; and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare and produce one to next meeting.

(P 84) Silas Cook also requests his and his family's right of membership removed to Bear Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa. Cynthia Holaday and Sarah Henley are appointed in conjunction with a similar committee of Men Friends to make the necessary inquiry; and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare and produce one to next meeting.

The minutes on the state of society was read in this meeting much to our comfort and satisfaction.

The 1st, 2nd, and 8th queries were read in this meeting with answers thereto which are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting by Mary Bales (Beals) and Cynthia Holaday whom we appoint our representatives and direct them to report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 3rd month 18th 1876. The clerk not being present, Rachel P. Stanley was appointed clerk for the day.

A part of the Quarterly Meeting's committee appointed to visit this Meeting is very acceptably with us whose company and labors have been strengthening and encouraging to us.

The committee continued at last month to prepare and produce a certificate for Nathan Morris and family to Walnut Creek Monthly Meeting, Kansas, produced one which was read, approved and signed.

Also one was produced for John B. Gluyos to Hesper Monthly Meeting which was read, approved and signed.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 4th month 15th 1876. The clerk being absent, Lydia Arnold was clerk for the day.

(P 85) The friends appointed in 2nd month last to attend the Quarterly Meeting as representatives report that one of them attended and nothing was given them in charge.

The Preparative informs this meeting that John Terrell, Zephaniah H. Bones and Leander H. Dunbar request to be joined in membership with Friends with which this Meeting fully unites and they are received accordingly.

The 1st, 2nd and 8th queries were read in this meeting with answers thereto which are directed to be forwarded to the ensuing Quarterly Meeting by Sarah Henley and Lydia Arnold whom we appoint our representatives and they are directed to report to next meeting and produce what may be given them in charge.

1st Ans.: All of our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. No unbecoming behavior to remark. The hour of meeting observed.

2nd - Friends are preserved in Christian love as far as appears. Tale bearing and detraction avoided. No complaints under the other clause of that query.

8th - No complaints under that query.

The representatives report they both attended the Quarterly Meeting and nothing was given them in charge for this meeting. Caretakers report their attendance and the orderly deportment of the meeting.

Epistles were read from Iowa and Indiana Yearly Meetings much to our comfort and satisfactions.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 8th month 19th 1876. The clerk being absent, Lydia Arnold was appointed clerk for the day.

All the queries were read in this meeting with answers thereto; also the usual answers which are directed to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting by Lydia Arnold and Mary Bales (Beals) whom we appoint as our representatives and they are directed to report to next meeting an account of their attendance and produce to the Meeting what may be given them in charge by the Quarter.

1st Ans.- All our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. Friends avoid unbecoming behavior. The hour of meeting observed.

2nd - Friends are preserved in Christian love as far as appears. Talebearing and detraction are discouraged. No differences amongst us that we know of.

3rd - Some care taken under the several heads of that query.

4th - Friends are clear under the several heads of that query as far as appears.

5th - No case of necessity that we know of.

6th - Friends are clear under the several heads of that query as far as we know.

7th - Friends appear careful to live within the bounds of their circumstances or involving themselves in business beyond their ability to manage.

8th - Care is taken to fulfill the requirements of that query.

Annual Answers

1st Ans - None.

2nd - No schools under our care, yet we desire a proper education of our children.

3rd - Each family of Friends is furnished with a copy of the Holy Scriptures and a few Friends are in the habit of daily reading as directed.

Epistles were read from Ohio and Dublin Yearly Meetings much to our comfort and satisfaction.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 9th month 16th 1876. Lydia Arnold was appointed clerk for the day.

The representatives report they attended the Quarterly Meeting. There was nothing given them in charge.

The Preparative informs this meeting that Sarah J. Bones requests to be joined in membership with Friends with which this Meeting fully unites and she is received accordingly

Epistles were read from Western and New York Yearly Meetings which were encouraging and edifying.

Our beloved Friend Susannah Beals very acceptably attended this Meeting whose company and kind exhortations were encouraging to the Meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 10th month 21st 1876. The clerk being absent, Lydia Arnold was appointed clerk for the day.

(P 88) The clerk, having at present located at a distance from Meeting, this meeting has thought best to appoint a committee to confer with her; and if then it is thought best, to bring forward the name of a Friend to serve in her place. Therefore, Sarah Henley and Rachel P. Stanley are appointed and requested to report to next meeting.

Our beloved Friend E. K. Hobson very acceptably attended this Meeting and produced a minute of unity and concurrence from Timberhill Monthly Meeting dated 9th month 9th 1876.

Our esteemed Friend Rosannah Furgasun very acceptably attended this Meeting producing a minute of unity and concurrence from same Meeting bearing same date. Their Gospel labors were very satisfactory, strengthening and edifying.

Our Friend William Furguson, husband to Rosannah Furguson and companion to the aforesaid Friends, acceptably attended this Meeting and produced a minute of unity from a committee appointed by Timberhill Monthly Meeting dated 10th month 10th 1876.

An epistle has been read from Canada Yearly Meeting which was encouraging to us.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 11th month 18th 1876. The clerk being absent, Lydia Arnold was appointed clerk for the day.

The committee appointed in regard to the clerk report they conferred with Cynthia Holaday and she said she was so situated as not to be able to perform that service. Therefore, they thought best to appoint Lydia Arnold to that station with which this Meeting unites and Mary Jones as assistant as before.

(P 89) Rachel P. Stanley and Elizabeth Burks are appointed our representatives to attend the Quarterly Meeting and directed to report to next meeting what may be given them in charge.
