(P 160) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 1st month 21st 1871.
Our beloved Friend Nathan Morris, a minister, and Abigail his wife informs this Meeting that they had appointed and attended some meetings in the verge of this and Cottonwood Monthly Meeting as set forth in a minute granted them in the 10th month last to the peace and comfort of their own minds which is satisfactory to the Meeting.
Our beloved Friend Nathan Morris, a minister, and Abigail his wife, with whom we have unity, expressed in this meeting a concern to visit the families and parts of families belonging to this Meeting. After a time of solemn deliberation, this Meeting unites with them in their concern and they are encouraged to pursue their prospect as best wisdom may direct.
The Friends appointed to have charge of fencing the graveyard report nothing done since last meeting. They are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
A nminute on the state of society was read in this meeting which is satisfactory and edifying.
This meeting concludes.

(P 161) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 2nd month 18th 1871.
1st Answer - All of our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended but not as frequent by some as would be best. No unbecoming behavior to remark. The hour of meeting nearly observed.
2nd Answer - Friends are preserved in Christian love one toward another as far as appears. Talebearing and detraction discouraged. Differences are ended when any appear.
8th Answer - Care is taken to deal with offenders seasonally and impartially. Endeavors are used to envince to those who will not be reclaimed in the spirit of meekness and love before judgment is placed upon them.
Nathan Morris, a minister with whom we have unity, and Abigail his wife inform this Meeting that they have visited most of the families belonging to this Meeting which are as follows: 20 whole families, 23 parts of families, leaving seven of which they did not visit on account of the distance and the inclemency of the weather which service they performed to the peace and comfort of their own minds which is satisfactory to the Meeting.
(P 162) The first, second and eighth queries were read in this Meeting with answers thereto which is satisfactory to the Meeting and they are directed to be forwarded to the ensuing Quarterly Meeting by Thomas Butler, A. W. Wasson and Allen Hayworth whom we appoint as our representatives and they are directed to report to next meeting.
The Friends appointed to have charge of fencing the graveyard report nothing done since last meeting. They are continued and directed to report when complied with the object of their appointment.
The Friends of Lane and vicinity request the privilege of holding a Meeting for worship by the name of Lane on first and fifth days of each week, also a Preparative on fifth day preceeding the third seven day in each month, all at eleven o'clock with which this Meeting unites with and directs the request to be forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting.
Oliver Butler requests our certificate of his right of membership for himself and family conveyed to Springfield Monthly Meeting, Douglas County, Kansas. Jesse Beals and Allen Hayworth are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Women Friends to make the necessary inquiry; and if they find nothing to hinder, prepare and produce one to next meeting.
The clerk about to remove within the limits of our Monthly Meeting, Lewis C. White, A. W. Wasson and Thomas Butler are appointed to bring forward the name of a suitable Friend to serve this Meeting as clerk and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 3rd month 18th 1871.
The clerk being absent Jesse Beals was appointed clerk for the day.
The representatives report two of their number attended the Quarterly Meeting.
The request of the Friends at Lane for the establishment of a Meeting for worship and a Preparative has been forwarded to the Quarterly Meeting as directed.
The committee appointed in case of Oliver Butler and families right of membership produced a certificate that is approved and signed.
The Friends appointed at last meeting in case of clerk, not being ready to make report, they are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
Certificates received as follows: For Solomon and Sarah Hunt and their minor daughter Mary Hunt from Bloomfield Monthly Meeting, Park County, Indiana, dated 1st month 18th 1871.
Also, one for Benjamin Hunt, same Meeting dated 2nd month 15th 1871, which is satisfactory to this meeting. The clerk is directed to acknowledge the reception of the above certificates and report to next meeting.
(P 164) Allen Hayworth, Jesse Beals, Solomon Hunt, Thomas Butler and A. W. Wasson are appointed to make out a ratio of apportionment between our members for raising money and report to next meeting.
The meeting then concluded.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 4th month 15th 1871.
The clerk not being present Thomas Butler is appointed clerk for the day.
The committee appointed at a former meeting in case of clerks propose the name of Thomas Butler for clerk who being united with and he is appointed to that service.
The committee appointed at last meeting to make out a ratio of apportionment, not reporting, are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
The meeting then concluded.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting held 5th month 20th 1871.
The first, second and eighth queries were read in this meeting (with) written answers thereto from the each Preparative Meeting from which the following is a summary which was satisfactory to the Meeting.
1st - All of our meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. The hour of meeting nearly observed. No unbecoming behavior to remark.
2nd - Friends appear to be preserved in Christian love one toward another. Talebearing and detraction avoided. Endeavors used to end differences when they appear.
(P 165) 8th: No cases of offence has occurred under that query.
The first, second and eighth queries have been read in this meeting with answers thereto which was satisfactory to the Meeting which were directed to Quarterly Meeting by Asa Holaday, Jesse Beals and Thomas Butler who are appointed our representatives. They are directed to return what may be given them in charge and report to next meeting.
The committee continued at last meeting to make out ratio of apportionment make the following report which is satisfactory to this meeting.

A certificate was received from Bangor Monthly Meeting dated 5th month 15th 1871 conveying to this meeting the rights of membership of Miles and Levi Morris. The clerk is directed to furnish Bangor Monthly Meeting the reception thereof and report to next meeting.
(P 166) Solomon Hunt, Thomas Butler, George F. Coffin and Jesse Bales (Beals) are appointed to propose to next meeting a suitable number of Friends to serve this Meeting as overseers and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 6th month 17th 1871.
Representatives report they all attended the Quarterly Meeting. Caretakers report they attended the Quarterly Meeting.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to propose to this Meeting the names of suitable friends to serve as overseers propose the following: Calvin Barnard, George F. Coffin, Lewis White and Albert W. Wasson who being united with, they are appointed to that service.
The clerk reported he furnished Bangor Monthly Meeting of the reception of Miles and Levi Morris' certificate as directed at last meeting.
Elwood Winder requested his certificate of his right of membership for himself and family conveyed to Shawnee Monthly Meeting. Jesse Bales (Beals) and Calvin Barnard are appointed to visit him therefore and report to next meeting.
This meeting received the following certificates: One for Priscilla Morris and her minor children--Carrie Evaline, Nettie Lucille and Libbie Ann Morris from Pleasant Plain Monthly Meeting of Friends, Iowa, dated 2nd month 11th 1871;
(P 167) one for Amanda Emery and her minor children--Arthur E. and James W. Emery from same Meeting, same date; one for Ruth Heston and her minor son--David William from same Meeting and same date; one for Sidna Picket and her minor children--David, Benjamin, Rebecca, Mary and Patrick Henry Picket from same Meeting and same date; and one for Elam F. Jones from same Meeting, same date; and one for Susanah Hocket from same Meeting, same date; and one for Mordecai Ellis and Eliza his wife and their minor children--Lydia E., Mary L., and James S. Ellis from same Meeting and same date. Nathan Morris, Jesse Bales (Beals) are appointed in conjunction with a committee from Women's Meeting to inform them thereof and report to next meeting.
This Meeting received the following extract from Hesper Quarterly Meeting of Friends held 6th month 3rd 1871:
In accordance with a report from the proceedings of the associated committees on the subject of a Yearly Meeting house now received, the Monthly Meetings are directed to use their best endeavors to forward promptly in their respective proportions to W. Hadley, treasurer of the committee, two thirds of the first and second installment of the amount heretofore directed to forwarded for the purpose of building a Yearly Meeting house only such portion if any of the remainder to be forwarded as may hereafter be called for by the executive committee.
The amount hereby directed is as follows:
$933.33 1st of ninth month 1871
$933.33 1st of third month 1872
(P 168) The ratio of apportionment amongst the Monthly Meetings adopted at this meeting is as follows:
Spring Grove pay 12 1/2 per cent
Springfield 45 per cent
Shawnee 12 1/2 per cent
Lawrence 30 per cent

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends held 7th month 15th 1871.
The Friends appointed at last meeting to prepare a certificate for Elwood Winder report that his right does not appear on the records of this Meeting. They are continued to further care of this case and report to next meeting.
The Friends appointed to visit Caleb Picket on account of his request, not being ready to report, are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
The clerk reported he furnished Pleasant Plain Monthly Meeting of the reception of certificates for Priscilla Morris and others as directed at last meeting.
A part of the Quarterly Meeting's committee is now in attendance with us whose company and labors has been satisfactory and edifying.
The committee appointed at last meeting to inform those Friends the reception of their certificates, not being ready to report, are continued and directed to report to next meeting.
